ANZAC Day

It’s ANZAC Day here is Australia, which aside from remembering our past, and acknowledging our present men and women making sacrifices for our country, means we get a day off. In my opinion a mid week day off is almost better than a Friday or a Monday. It breaks up the monotonous 5 day week and makes it a wee bit more palatable. IMG_2291

As most days do this one started with breakfast. There was no chai tea, so I settled for an English Breakfast. The only problem with English Breakfast is that it makes me want to add sugar. IMG_2292

Rancheros. It’s been a while, but they were incredible as always. IMG_2293

See. (almost) Clean plate.

Next up I had a cake to finish. A vanilla-rainbow-marble number covered in luxurious chocolate buttercream. I had intended to put a little 6 on top, seeing as the recipient is turning 6, however it didn’t turn out…IMG_2295

Sprinkles all over instead.

After picking at both the left over cake and icing (damn sugar and it’s silky sweet lure, sometimes I just give in), it was time for a workout. IMG_2296

As part of the Tone It Up Bikini Series the Sunkissed Abs workout was on the agenda. I added the Love Your Booty routine too. I followed it all with a refreshing green smoothie (similar to this one, but not exactly the same, they rarely turn out exactly the same, it’s so easy to tweak!)

And right now I should be doing homework… but instead I am sitting on the couch watching Sherlock Holmes (the first Robert Downey Jr and Jude Law movie).

I’m not sure what the rest of the day will hold, what I do know is that the BF is going to create an amazing salmon dinner. I’ve not actually had fresh salmon before, I’m not much of a fishy-fish fan but I am very much looking forward to what he comes up with.

Happy ANZAC day!

Leaving on a jet plane… in 36 days + a green smoothie

IMG_2099I cannot believe we are so close to jetting off on the European-Gypsy-Adventure. It’s crazy.

Our Eurail passes arrived on Monday, I may have squealed a little bit when I realised what the delivery was…

I’ve been working on a mental list for a while now, it’s about time that it was liberated from my over crowded brain.
1. my passport renewal
2. Eurail passes
3. Accommodation in Barcelona
4. Hire car for France
5. Travel insurance
6. Accommodation in France
7. A hostel for Paris
8. Accommodation in Italy
9. Accommodation in Germany
10. Speak to cousin about house sitting

I’m sure there are loads more things I need to do, they’ll come to me, I hope. Accommodation is the main issue at this stage. The problem with booking places is that we don’t actually know when we will be where. We have a rough idea of when we’d like to be in each country but nothing beyond that. We’re flying by the seat of our pants really, not that I mind, it makes it feel all the more adventurous.

Once we’re in the final week packing will take over as my main concern. I am an over-packer. I think this is due to my general indecisiveness when it comes to dressing myself. What if I don’t take the one t-shirt I really feel like wearing when we’re climbing the Eiffel tower? Invariably I do end up wearing the same clothes over and over, even when I have an entire wardrobe to choose from, however when it comes to packing I seem to internally freak out and convince myself that I will want to wear certain items that I may not have touched in months. It’s ridiculous.

On a complete side note; I just finished the most incredible green smoothie. IMG_2101This incredible concoction was…

Green juice base; 3-4 kale leaves, half a large cucumber, 2 lemons (peeled), a nub of ginger, 5-6 cos lettuce leaves, 3-4 full celery stalks (this makes enough for me to have a green juice- of about 350 or 400ml- and then a green smoothie also)

Then I added the smoothie bits; 2 tbsp flaxmeal, 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar, 1 big shake of cinnamon, half and avocado, 1 tbsp of chia seeds (soak them for a couple of minutes in water so they get all slimy first), 1 tbsp coconut oil, 1 tsp maca powder, 1-2 handfuls of baby spinach

Blend baby, Blend! It’s the first time I’ve included coconut oil in the mix and oh baby was it amazing. Not over powering just adding this delightful coconut-y smoothness. Yum.

I’m alive!

It’s been a little quiet around here in the last couple of weeks, there has been so much going on I’ve barely had time for anything, except for instagram, of course.

So, what’s been happening? Work, mainly. It’s all probably rather boring, as work often is, so I’ll just show you some photos instead.  IMG_1940Failing to plan is planning to fail! It may be cheesy but it does ring true. I was working out of the office most of last week, and that meant packing tasty and healthy treats to keep me satisfied.

IMG_1962This is where I was. The Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show. Our little tent was in a prime position.

IMG_1970Although it was a little bit too warm when the sun was really beating down. I thought winter was supposed to be on the way? Apparently not.

IMG_1963Lots of green juice and smoothies. I think I might be obsessed.

IMG_1952Went out for dinner with a friend, it was delicious. More on that soon.

IMG_1967Saturday morning breakfast with the BF… we had to stray from our usual spot due to the early hour. I wasn’t too happy about my photo being taken.

IMG_1968I was, however, super happy with my- not entirely breakfasty- breakfast. I still don’t really know what it was, a salad on flat bread and some spicy sausage on the side. Ah-may-zing.

IMG_1969I had a duck/bird visitor in the tent over the weekend. He came to hang out for a while and then wandered off. Children found this hilarious. I was also told that he pooped on the grass beside my tent before sneaking his way under the side. Maybe it was the poop they found hilarious…

That’s kind of it. I was in the beautiful Carlton Gardens for 5 days handing out magazines and bluffing my way through landscaping related questions. I drank a lot of green juice. I took photos.

And now it’s only a few days until Easter, 4 days off! And then next week I am 31… madness!
